Art Statement

I as an artist, I know that for a fact that art has been a great impact in my life. There are so many things that I have learned in the past years, different ways of doing things. I have learned different techniques that people have done over the years. It’s cool seeing how things have evolved over the years. The things I have learned I will for sure in the future of me doing art.

This year in drawing and painting has been a really big eye opener and I have learned so much! I figured out how to layer paint and not blend paint as much. I mostly focused on using acrylic paint with canvas. With the paintings that I did I tried to focus using warm colors so that it would catch peoples eyes more. Then other thing that I learned to do is using multi canvas for my paintings. I did that because I like how your eye flows through each canvas and kind of connects them at the same time. Those are something that I have learned in my drawing and painting class.

There has been anything amazing things that I have learned in ceramics the past years but I think that this year has been the most impact-full year of them all. I figured out how to make artwork that will be able to help get a job doing art. For example throwing pottery on a wheel. I like how your able to create personal pieces and be ever valuable at the same time. I learned the different ways of being able to shape and move the clay to the way I want it to end up to be. Throwing on a wheel is one of the biggest life lessons that I have learned this year, I hope that more into the year I master the techniques of throwing and be able to make fabulous pottery.

Some of the people that have inspired me the most in my drawing and painting class would have to be Salvador Dali because I really like how he does things without caring what people thing of this artwork. I like he is able to express himself in his painting without caring what people will think about it. He takes normal pictures and then does something complete different then the original picture. That what I kind of like to stop worrying about what people think of my paintings and just worry about if I like it myself. That right there is what really inspires me the most. Quit trying to worry so much about other peoples thoughts or judgments.

I also have learned the different ways people over the years have done different clay projects or sculptors. There’s a couple of artist that I researched and Sarah Paloma was one of the people that I researched and she has impacted me the most of them all.  I really enjoyed how she would make normal pottery but she would add her own twist to them and made them different from normal pottery. That’s how I want to be able to make things that might be normal but when I’m done with my pottery I want to be able to add my own twist to them and make them my personal artwork. I think that’s one thing that I have learned from researching her.

There are also so many things that I have learned but I like to see how different artists have evolved over the years. For example you can go back hundreds of years and see how pottery was like and you see how now it’s made and it’s crazy to see how much things have changed but they all have that creative and eye catching creation in them. Things back then were made hand made but they still managed to be amazing art creations that people would pay a ton of money for today. Then you look at how pottery is made and it’s just so different but it’s still beautiful art pieces but there made using electric wheels or molds to create them. In the past it took true art skills to be able to make those great creations.
Those are some of the things that I have learned over this year and I’m ready to learn even more and master creating pottery. I have learned how Sarah makes normal looking pottery but she still is able to make it something that is hers. Then the different ways of being able to make stuff on wheel and how to be able to shape and form the clay to what I want it to be. Then at the same time I think it’s really cool to see how pottery has been able to evolve and the different ways it’s created from then to now and still are able to make amazing creations with different techniques. That is what I have learned over this year and I’m excited to learn more.
